Welcome back to another episode of Women Powering Ecommerce, where we dive into the world of female entrepreneurship. Today, I want to share a transformative insight that I stumbled upon during a morning walk and a podcast episode featuring Dr. Benjamin Hardy. This revelation not only shifted my perspective but also prompted me to rethink and reimagine my approach to growth in both my personal and business life.
The 2X Mindset: A Safe Bet, but Limited
For a long time, I've been advocating for consistent growth, often setting my sights on the 2X improvement mark. It's a safe approach, requiring either doing what I've always done but doing better or doubling up on current efforts. The problem? It's predictable, and linear, and could lead to burnout or the need for more resources. It's like spreading yourself thin across various tasks, hoping for incremental gains.
The Turning Point: Embracing the 10X Mindset
Dr. Hardy's perspective introduced me to the concept that 10X growth is transformative, requiring a shift in mindset, actions, and thinking. It challenges the status quo, urging us to focus on the 20% of tasks that yield 80% of results. This means letting go of the majority of what currently occupies our lives, even if those things were successful in the past. It's disruptive, daring, and, admittedly, a bit scary.
Leveraging Resources: Working Smarter, Not Harder
The 10X mindset emphasizes innovation and resource leverage. It's not just about working harder; it's about working smarter. This realization prompted me to reevaluate how I use my time, finances, and network in the e-commerce space. It became clear that I can't do it alone—I need to surround myself with people who are smarter and more experienced.
Embracing the Culture of Innovation
To achieve 10X growth, I must embrace a culture of innovation. This means being proactive, constantly seeking transformative solutions, and creating a space where ideas are not only welcome but encouraged. It's about understanding that sometimes, I don't have all the answers, and seeking help from others or exploring new ideas can propel me forward.
Personal Growth: Stepping Out of Comfort Zones
On a personal level, aiming for 10X growth demands stepping out of my comfort zone and taking bigger risks. It's about seeking personal development through books, and advice, and surrounding myself with people who can contribute to my growth journey. The 10X mindset is not just about scale; it's about challenging the norms that have kept me in a safe space.
Conclusion: Embrace the Journey
In conclusion, the 10X mindset is a journey of transformation, challenging our habits and norms to achieve rapid and significant growth. It's about reimagining our approach, leveraging resources innovatively, and stepping into discomfort for personal and professional development. I invite you to join me on this exciting journey of growth and transformation.

048 - The 10x Leap Over 2x Progress
(00:00)
Welcome to this episode of Women Powering Ecommerce. Join me every Tuesday as I take you behind the scenes of my journey as a female e-commerce entrepreneur. Together, we'll explore the highs, the lows, inspiring you to take action and achieve your own business goals. So let's get started.
(00:32)
All right, so have you ever heard that 10x is better than 2x? Is that something that rings a bell? That's what I wanna talk about. So here's a pivotal moment I've had. I think it was two weeks ago. I was out for a walk in the morning. I usually just bring my AirPods, tune in to an episode, a podcast, something like that. And I came across an episode that was...
Dr. Benjamin Hardy was interviewed. So in the insights he shared really, really shifted the way I viewed my work. And I just thought I have to share this with you today. I really have to share it because it was just so eye-opening for me. So I've always been preaching for the ideas of consistent growth, often aiming for the 2X mark in my mind. I know that like ideally, yes, I love to 10X everything in my life. That would be wonderful.
But I also know that unconsciously, I'm just aiming for the 2X improvement growth. Yeah, I mean, just to say that for me is kind of a hard realization. And it's okay, I know that's what I'm thinking, I know that I can work on that, and I've already started that work for sure. So Dr. Hardy's perspective, in the way he explains this concept really helped me understand that
I need to shift the way I see how I work. And it also brought me to make some really nice changes to my work week. When I say that, I mean that it allowed me to reevaluate how I approach growth in both my personal life and business life. And let me explain, let me unpack this for you. And I hope it makes sense. But it's definitely, if you wanna go, just Google it, you'll...
find a book, you'll find a podcast episode on it. It's really good. Okay, so here's what I learned. Linear won't work. So 2X growth is predictable and it's linear, which means that it requires you to do either what you've always done, but better, or you have to double up on what you're currently doing. And the problem with that is that...
(02:53)
Either it'll just require more people or you'll burn out because you're just doubling up on the time you put at work, but it's a safe approach. And I think that's the reason why I've unconsciously been driven to do that, even if I know I want to grow at a much more rapid pace. But so for me, that was a really good realization. However, the Ternix growth, on the other hand, is transformative.
and it requires a different mindset. You can't view, act, or think the same way. If you want to grow that fast, that quickly, you just have to shift like everything. So I'm sure you've heard of the 80-20 principle. Well, it applies with this too. Let me explain. So currently my work week is pretty busy, pretty packed. And if I want to 2X, well, the logical thing to do is hire more people,
Do more, double the number of tasks, double the number of articles, double this, double that. And then what happens is that you just spread yourself then over multiple tasks or areas, or you just double your time and then you feel like you're, you know, you're gonna burn out again. So I think that sometimes we know we shouldn't do that, but when we explain it that way, but when we're just in our daily habit of doing whatever we're supposed to do, well, that's what we do.
But the 10x growth will ask me to focus on the 20% of tasks or strategies that would give me 80% of the results. This means it's about letting go. It's about letting go of the majority of what occupies my current life. Even if these things have been successful in the past. The only difference is that they're not going to bring me where I want to go. They've just brought me to where I am today.
But if I want to do like so much more, so much quicker, I just have to leave all of that behind and only keep probably 20% of what I've been doing. That's crazy. I have to change 80% of what I do. Honestly, that's the concept that blew my mind. It blew my mind. And then I sat down and I asked myself like, wow, that's a lot. Like I started listing everything I would have to change.
(05:19)
to make sure that this actually happened. So it's huge because aiming for 10X is really about disrupting the status quo. It's challenging the current methods. It's daring to think differently. And honestly, that's scary. I'm not gonna lie, it is scary, but that's what's gonna make the changes happen. It makes a lot of sense. While the 2X might optimize the current system,
And that's what I've been doing for a long time. Well, the 10X is more about reimagining and reinventing it. So yes, like I said, it's scary, but it's also very exciting. I'm super psyched. I'm really, really excited about this finding. Having that realization made me realize that I have to learn to leverage resources. So 10X growth, emphasize it. Ooh.
So 10x growth emphasizes leveraging resources in really an innovating way. It's not just about working harder, it's about working smarter. So it made me reevaluate how I utilize my time, my finances, and even my network in the e-commerce space, or this applies to anything else, honestly. So mostly made me realize I also cannot do it on my own. I can't. More than ever, I need to surround myself with people that are smarter than me, more experienced than me. I mean, it's a given. There's so much I can do on my own. I can change a lot of actions, but then comes in the question, how do I get there? What do I need to do? Well, sometimes we just don't know the how. We cannot answer that question, so we just have to understand, okay, well, if I don't know how to do this, then who am I gonna speak to? And to ask for some help. So.
That's it. And then you really need to embrace that culture of innovation. I think I'm okay with that. I'm really okay with that. I've been in that kind of mindset for a lot of years, but I still need to crank it up a notch. I still need to do that. And thinking like that really pushes me to be more proactive or thinking, just constantly in search of a transformative solution.
(07:43)
Before, I would try and find a solution by just, like I said, putting in more time, finding new resources, things like that. But you can't think like that when you want to 10X, you cannot. It also creates a space where ideas are welcome and encouraged. So yes, from my own mind, but from others as well. And that's why I said, sometimes you just, you need others around you to help you because you need their brains to help you get from point A to point B of where you want to go.
And just on a personal growth level, so yeah, on a personal level, aiming for 10x growth means stepping out of my comfort zone, of course, more than ever, but it also means taking bigger risks. I've always had a little bit, it's hard to navigate, what's like too much of a, what's an uncalculated risk versus a calculated risk? Like when is it too risky versus calculated, if that makes any sense? But,
automatically you do have to take bigger risks. And you have to constantly seek personal development, help and advice, like I said before. Either, yes, it can be others, but books are great. Books are like talking, having someone talk directly to you with all of your experience or lifetime experience. So that's definitely something I'll, I do that. I read every single day and I'm just gonna continue to do it even more, but maybe I'll increase, I don't know yet, but that's definitely something where you can go and get those.
resources and to grow on a personal level. So like I said, I used to think that the 10x mindset was, at least I wanted to do that, but I was more like in my subconscious mind, I think I was more too axing. If I can turn that into a verb. I also thought that the 10x mindset was about scaling. And while it is, it's much more than that. It's about reimagining
my approach to growth in challenging the norms that I use to keep me safe. I have to get out of that. So I hope that really helped you like it helped me. For me was mind blowing and I'm definitely going to keep thinking about this and work with this and see where it leads me.
